Six swimmers from the Fort Worth-based competitive masters (ages
19 and up) program Team Ridglea were named All-Americans earlier this month
after recording the nation's fastest time in their events in 2003: Diane Drake
in the 200-meter backstroke, Jason Lovell in the 1,500 freestyle and the team
of Kristin Henderson, Nicole Paquette, Beth Jones and April Woolard in the 400
medley relay.
"It's amazing," coach Chuck Burr said. "As a team,
you hope that you'll get one All-American sometime in a 10-year period."
Team Ridglea will have 23 members competing in the 2004 Spring
Zone Championships this weekend in Sugar Land. The team finished fifth last
spring.
