To be named an All-American in your field is an honor, and one that is usually enjoyed by a precious few. But one area swimming group had the honor of several honors.

Five swimmers from the Team Ridglea Masters teams were named 2004 All-American swimmers. The athletes earn All-America status by posting the fastest time in the nation for their event. All the winners' times were set during the 2004 summer season.

Steve Wood, 43, earned All-America status in the 50-meter backstroke (29.13 seconds) and the 100 backstroke (1:03.75). Nicole Paquette, 23, was honored for the 1,500 freestyle (19:22.46), as was 33-year-old Marcin Wedlarksi (17:40.23). Diane Drake, 25, earned recognition for the 200 butterfly (2:34.93), and Kim Macklin, 37, was tops in the 100 breaststroke (1:20.90).
